Would I live differently if I always remembered my future in the back of my mind? Would I allow my future to direct the events and my activities in my life in the here and now? Sure, I would have a different perspective on life. I would remember to eat healthy and exercise, always remembering the impact it will have on my future health. I would remember that my decisions now may change my future path. I would also remember that my stressful life always needs a stress relief outlet.
You know, I do participate in healthy behaviors. I eat right, and exercise for the most part. I do not always de-stress well enough due to the schedule I chose and the activities I chose to participate in. However, the reason that I do any of the healthy behaviors is because I want to live a long and healthy life--I am looking towards my future.
So, my conclusion is that if we keep in mind that our attitudes and actions today will affect our future, but that today is now yesterday and that each day is a new day, then we would chose healthier behaviors and lifestyles.

I also have a hard time remembering to de-stress. Sometimes I need to relax but can't because there are so many things to do and there aren't enough hours in a day. We all must remember that if we are burned out then we won't be able to help others. There's nothing wrong with putting ourselves first. That's a hard thing to do though.
I must also learn to alleviate stress from my lifestyle. Sometimes, it is hard to do, but it is very important, in order to live a happier, more productive life. I have discoved that listening to soft, Jazz music helps me to relieve stress.
Well said. A healthier lifestyle must include looking toward the future. I can relate to neeing to de-stress like you mentioned. I don't do that enough. I am constantly doing activities and must remember that it is important for my health to de-stress and have me time once in a while. Good luck with that.
Stress is a major thing a lot of people go through and it causes them to eat and gain weight. With strss I try to take a nap when I have the time. I try to take of my business first before I take a nap, but sometimes I can not go any longer. I am going to change as many habits that I can to have a healthier life.
I'm not so sure people do not remember to destress as much as they feel like they have to be super person now and get everything done, so they think they do not have time to take a nice bubble bath or relax on the couch for twenty minutes now and then. I think it's actually that society has their priorities messed up. If we were looking to living for the future, priorities would be different, because we would worry less about getting everything done today and enjoy life a little.
